Leading the in-house creative effort for ActBlue from 2015 through April 2023 was both a career-defining challenge and an opportunity to shape one of the most recognized brands in progressive politics. What began with a simple wordmark and limited color palette evolved into a comprehensive design system spanning print, digital, video, events, and environmental design.
As the brand matured, I directed initiatives that brought ActBlue’s mission to life across every touchpoint — from conference booths and promotional campaigns to web and email design, photography, and storytelling. I also collaborated closely with architects and contractors to brand both ActBlue office locations in Somerville, MA, ensuring the physical spaces embodied the same creativity and purpose as the organization itself.
A major milestone came with the reimagined brand rollout at SXSW 2023, where a refreshed visual identity debuted to great reception. I developed the foundational elements — including the new wordmark, icon, color palette, icon library, and initial layout specifications — while my team in translated that system across digital, video, experiential executions, and expounded upon it to where it continues to this day.
Building this program from the ground up was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career — a true blend of strategy, storytelling, and collaboration that elevated ActBlue’s creative voice and impact.
In 2025, DesignRush recognized AB as one of the year’s top logo designs.
